Taylor Made Science

Searching for a homeschool college-preparatory science program? Taylor Made Science has you covered with secular, lab-based science courses that promote science literacy and critical thinking skills. Prepare your student for college and for life!

About Taylor Made Science

Taylor Made Science offers a series of live, interactive, online science courses designed to prepare students for success in science at the university level. The series includes a year of preparatory middle school science and eight high school science courses, all at the Honors or Advanced Placement level.

Zoom class sizes are kept small to allow more one-on-one interaction between students and teacher. And, although the classes only meet once a week, the teacher is available between classes to every student by appointment through Zoom and through email at any time. Students can also set up safe online study sessions with classmates through the Canvas Learning Management System.

All science courses are hands-on with students completing real science labs as a part of their live online class experience. A lab supply kit is provided to each student. During class students complete their own hands-on work while collaborating with their lab group in Zoom breakout rooms, with the teacher available to help when needed.

For a list of available science courses with descriptions of each, please see the course descriptions page. To find out when courses will be offered, please see the schedule page. You may also want to look at an overview of suggested science pathways based on student college plans. For information about cost and payment options check the tuition and fees page.

I want parents and students to be comfortable with the level and the format of my science classes before they register. There’s no better way to determine if a class will be a good fit than taking it for a spin!

In order to give students a hands-on experience I have put together an introductory class on the Scientific Method, with sections adapted for different levels of science and math experience. Students will get to meet the teacher and work with other students as they complete a fun lab using household supplies. For more information and to sign up, see the free class page.

Whatever your homeschool situation, provides the support you and your child need to succeed. offers a personalized online homeschooling curriculum for grades 3-12, as well as homeschooling for college credit.

Parents start by creating a self-paced, customized learning path for their child by choosing unlimited classes across all grade levels. Our all-in-one homeschool curriculum does the heavy lifting through lesson planning, teaching, automatic grading and progress tracking while you focus on supporting your student. Whether you’re homeschooling for the first time, are a veteran homeschooler, work full-time or just want to provide your students with a subject area expert, has what you need!

Your student will learn by watching fun, engaging video lessons that use maps, graphs, pictures and illustrations to link ideas with concrete examples and show step-by-step problem solving. makes it possible for homeschoolers to learn from highly qualified, experienced teachers (who hold a master’s degree or higher), while still being in the comfort of your home. also allows your student to learn in a safe environment while still practicing social distancing. Parents don’t have to choose between safety and a quality education. With, you can have both.

Founded in 2002, began creating an online learning platform that would provide students with an affordable, high quality education to help them achieve their educational goals. By studying pedagogy (researching the best way to convey knowledge and skills in a way that a student can understand, remember and apply), we found that students learn best when information is given in short, bite-sized lessons and when students can see and hear the lesson content at the same time. Lessons on were designed to meet the needs of 95% of students who are visual and auditory learners. The other 5% are kinesthetic learners who have the time needed to engage with the material in different ways after watching the video lesson. continues to be the expert in online learning by offering core classes, elective classes and literature study guides, as well as courses, study guides, flashcards and test prep for dual credit, end of the year exams, state testing and popular exams such as PSAT/SAT/ACT and CLEP/AP. takes away the need to research and pay for different curriculums by offering homeschoolers everything in one place and for one price. provides a self-paced homeschooling curriculum, allowing your student to spend as much time as needed to master concepts. Instead of spending hours on busy work, allows your students to customize their learning by only using the learning tools they need to succeed. Homeschoolers have access to:

  • Printable lesson transcripts
  • Fill-in-the-blank transcripts
  • Worksheets of questions without multiple choice answers perfect for discussion questions or short answer responses
  • Online note-taking
  • Flashcards
  • Quizzes
  • Chapter exams
  • Course final
  • Additional activities
  • Projects
  • Experiments
  • Assignments

A favorite feature among homeschool parents is the opportunity for students to continue the learning process through assessments. offers a “watch the correct answer” button beneath every question, on every assessment. After completing an assessment and clicking on the button, students will be taken back to the exact chapter, lesson and the exact place in the lesson where the teacher is teaching that concept. This allows the student to focus on learning by being retaught the concept instead of wasting time searching for an answer or just moving on. Students can be retaught all missed concepts before retaking assessments as many times as needed to show mastery. This process is continued throughout the course, resulting in the mastery of content and greater retention.

Middle school & High School lessons break down difficult concepts into bite-sized chunks of information and are self-paced to fit any student’s schedule. In addition to core classes, also provides electives in Spanish, literature, computer science and dozens more. If you have a middle schooler or high schooler who is behind in math but grade level for other subjects, have them receive the remedial support they need in math, while taking other subjects at grade level.

Parents choose online homeschool courses based on the students’ needs, allowing them to fill in learning gaps and move on successfully in each subject. Gifted students thrive on because they can work ahead and even begin earning college credit when ready. Students with learning disabilities and special needs can work at their own pace and excel with the built-in accommodations that they are familiar with having in a classroom setting. For example:

  • Needing a variety of sensory modes to introduce information – speaking, reading, visual stimulation
  • Having information repeated or summarized at key points
  • Having access to lesson outlines, notes or transcripts instead of traditional note-taking
  • Receiving more time to complete a task
  • Being allowed to take frequent breaks
  • Taking a test or quiz in multiple, shorter testing sessions
  • Chunking of larger assignments (i.e. a project assigned insmaller segments with more frequent due dates) also provides additional homeschool resources that parents can use without needing the time to create them. Homeschoolers enjoy:

  • Writing prompts
  • Essay topics with rubrics
  • Science experiments
  • Lessons
  • Activities
  • Projects
  • Access to over 1,000,000 answered questions
  • On-demand help from expert instructors

With personalized learning, parents get to decide whether their student completes these additional activities and assignments and if their student takes assessments open-book, verbally, paper-pencil, online or not at all. Parents also determine the weight of assessments and assignments and issue a course grade customized for each child.

How to Teach Your Child the Piano Like a Pro

Hi I’m Delwyn, a professional music teacher with over 40 years of experience empowering budding pianists, young and old, to reach their musical potential. I now want to show you how you could do the same for your children. Giving your children a musical education is one of the great ways of blessing them. It is a gift that keeps on giving throughout their lives. How to Teach Your Child the Piano Like a Pro is a new online course designed specifically with you, the homeschooling parent, in mind. It comes from a background of teaching my own children (and hundreds of others), just as my parents taught me and my siblings (and thousands of others)!

Keyboards, orchestral strings, brass, woodwind, guitar, percussion, voice—whichever musical instrument(s) your child eventually takes to, the best foundation for developing all round musicality will be some degree of skill at the piano.

For a variety of reasons, one-on-one lessons with a piano tutor are not an option for many parents. For some, the cost of lessons is prohibitive. For others, remoteness of location means such lessons are unavailable. And, even where there is a local piano tutor nearby, many who choose to homeschool prefer that their children’s musical education takes place in the home alongside other subjects. Many families may simply prefer to keep their children at home.

How to Teach Your Child the Piano Like a Pro is a course that will save you time that could otherwise be wasted using ineffective methods. It could save you thousands in the cost of materials and tutor fees. The content is clearly presented through Powerpoint slides, with voice-over explanations and includes audio tracks and some video demonstrations. All the course material is digitally streamed through a leading-edge education platform. It includes downloadable PDFs of the music used.

Who is it for?

Whether you are an experienced pianist, had a few lessons as a child, have some musical background on another instrument, or have never played an instrument, How to Teach Your Child the Piano Like a Pro can work for you and your family as it guides you step by step from the very beginning. It also works for grandparents who want to help their grandchildren experience the world of musical expression, for parents who want to learn to play the piano themselves before teaching it to their own children, or even capable musicians who may have struggled in the past to teach others.

This course will not take you from middle C to Mozart, but it will show you the basics that need to be covered from the beginning—important steps that might otherwise be neglected. From there you will have a good understanding of how best to guide your child in working through any music tuition material, and how to formulate good practice habits to last a life-time.

A Varied Approach – How to Teach Your Child the Piano Like a Pro

Because we all have different learning styles, How to Teach Your Child the Piano Like a Pro provides a varied approach to learning. As well as showing you how to teach the learner to read music and relate that to hands on the keyboard, there is also a playing by ear component, and, of course, musical theory, to give a fully rounded introduction to musical education.

Although many of the pieces are original compositions, designed for the course, the reading component is a blueprint method (tried and true over 3 generations) that gives a lifelong skill applicable to all future music reading on any instrument.

The playing by ear component makes use of ‘Pattern Pieces’—some familiar traditional tunes, and others newly created—which are learned by listening and/or through observation, without recourse to written scores. ‘Pattern Pieces’ teach skills that support reading music, such as fluency, dynamic balance between two hands, etc. without being distracted by the reading process.

“I didn’t have any ideas how to teach someone who struggles to hear differences in pitch. The strategies that you walked us through will be really good in helping my children with this.”

Theory is ongoing through each lesson as staff, notation, key signatures, dynamics, etc. are covered systematically at the appropriate level of learning.

Other features

As well as showing you step by step procedures on how to teach your child piano—engaging eyes, hands and ears—How to Teach Your Child the Piano Like a Pro also covers other areas that anyone new to teaching piano would want addressed:

  • The right instrument—What to look for in choosing a piano or keyboard.
  • Learning styles—Discovering what works best for you and what works best for your child, while still making good use of other styles.
  • Practice Plan ideas—Progress comes through practice. A clear plan helps keep practice on track. And fresh ideas keep practice interesting.
  • Reward ideas—Achieved goals should be rewarded. There is a section on good ideas for rewarding progress.
  • Reviews of various piano books—Choosing the right piano books can be difficult. This course includes a review of several well-known piano tuition books.
  • Extra helps—note reading charts, flashcards, speed tests, pulse exercises.
  • Essentials for success—a list of 15 components that together make success inevitable.

How to Teach Your Child the Piano Like a Pro

Once you have completed How to Teach Your Child the Piano Like a Pro,

  • You will be better equipped to identify the challenges and pitfalls of teaching your own children piano.
  • You will know how to avoid pitfalls because you will understand how to identify problem areas of learning and communication that may come up in your particular situation.
  • You will know how to overcome challenges because you will be resourced with new ideas for tackling them.
  • You will discover the learning areas you find easy and those that need more attention, and also those of your child, who may have different strengths and weaknesses.
  • You will have fresh ideas of how to keep practice interesting and how to mark those learning milestones by rewarding progress.
  • You will have an idea of what to look for in a piano or keyboard, and also which book(s) to suit your needs through our reviews of various piano books in common use.
  • And you will have a grasp of the sometimes intangible elements that lead to your, and therefore your child’s, success.

“Thank you so much for developing this course. It has given me some really good skills to be able to do a better job teaching my children to play an instrument. I am already able to play the piano myself, but it was helpful the way you stepped through all the basic steps in case parents didn’t play themselves. I actually got a lot out of you going through those steps, because it modeled for me the way I can go through those steps in teaching my children.”

Summing up the course: How to Teach Your Child the Piano Like a Pro

Ever heard someone say, “I wish I never learned piano.” No? Me neither. But I have heard many times, “I always wanted to learn piano, but never had the opportunity.” In this internet age the opportunity to learn is right here, right now—even when finances are a concern, even when living in a remote location, far from the best professional piano tutors. How to Teach Your Child the Piano Like a Pro is new course designed to give homeschooling parents a solid beginning, so they know how to go about making sure their children are off to the right start in learning piano—the best foundation for their musical journey.

“We home school our children. A year ago we used Easy Grammar. Last year we used a different curriculum. I feel we just wasted an entire year! My boys are being tutored by a retired English teacher. He said he wished the public schools would use Easy Grammar! You have a customer until my kids are out of school!”

K. Tautges, Sheboygan, WI

“Just wanted to say that I LOVE your Easy Grammar! I used it with our two oldest children. We were doing *, and they just couldn’t get it. We started using your 5th & 6th grade book. My kids went through it and were able to do the rest of the…program. They tested out way into college level. Now they are in college, and my two youngest are going to do your grammar program.

My mother worked for ACE (School of Tomorrow) in the English department, and she loves the way you build your grammar program.
Just wanted to tell you how much we appreciate your books!”L. Cole, Sagle, ID

American School

American School is your school of choice, offering quality accredited middle school and high school courses in online and paper-based formats at a cost you can afford!  Choose from full-year or full diploma programs, or take individual courses to enrich an existing homeschool program.  American School is accredited by MSA-CESS, Ai and NCPSA, recognized by its home state of Illinois, and has been a leader in distance education since 1897, serving students in all 50 states and more than 65 countries around the world.

For most of its long history, American School focused on helping students graduate from high school.  Offering courses in grades 9-12 is still a primary focus of American School.  To that end, American School offers a general high school diploma program and a college preparatory diploma program.  As of January 1, 2021, each program consists of 5 units of credit per year for a total of 20 units of credit required to earn a diploma.  The general high school program is designed for students who wish to join the workforce or attend a community college after graduating from high school, while the college preparatory program is designed for students who plan on attending a four-year college or university after graduating from high school.  In each program, students can choose between online or paper-based courses, which ensures that they will learn in the course delivery method that is best for them.  Curriculum is from some of the leading textbook publishers and curriculum providers, and all course materials are written to specific standards for a particular subject or grade level.  Tuition for the entire 20-unit high school diploma program is $3600.  Monthly payment plans are available, and tuition includes all course materials, grading of exams, and access to the online student center, where students and parents and retrieve academic records, monitor course progress and receive additional assistance.  If students have homeschooling credit for certain subjects, they may take comprehensive examinations at an additional charge.  If they pass comprehensive examinations, they will receive credit for taking those courses at home.  If students have credit from an accredited school, they may send American School an official transcript for evaluation.  Most, if not all, credits earned at an accredited school will transfer to American School and count toward the 20 units of credit needed to earn American School’s diploma, the main exceptions being band, choir, physical education and driver’s education.

More recently, American School added courses in grades 6-8 to better serve middle school students.  Similar to the high school diploma programs, as of January 1, 2021, each year of middle school consists of 5 units of credit—1 each in English, math, science and social studies, plus an elective—at a cost of $900 per year, or a total of 15 units of credit for $2700.  Again, curriculum is from some of the leading textbook publishers and curriculum providers, and all course materials are written to specific standards for a particular subject or grade level.  Monthly payment plans are available, and tuition includes the same benefits given to students in a high school diploma program.  American School’s middle school program has been a success so far, and it’s only going to get better in 2021 and beyond!

Some students and families may be satisfied with an existing homeschool program but may wish to add courses for enrichment.  American School is proud to offer its courses on an individual basis.  As of January 1, 2021, most individual subjects cost $300 each for a full unit of credit and $250 each for a half unit of credit.  Select courses cost $200 each for a full unit of credit and $150 each for a half unit of credit, while select advanced courses cost $400 each for a full unit of credit and $350 each for a half unit of credit.  In addition to core subject areas such as English, math, science and social studies, American School offers elective courses in business, career and technical education; fine arts; and world languages powered by Rosetta Stone.  For select high school students, American School offers select AP courses, with enrollment in AP courses available from approximately July 1 to August 31.  There is no limit to the number of individual courses a student may take, and American School accepts enrollments in individual subjects throughout the year.

In its 124-year existence, more than three million students have taken American School courses.  These include athletes, entertainers, authors, artists, and business leaders, but American School treats every student with equal importance.  You’ve already read about American School’s curriculum and cost, but American School also offers caring student service and impeccable credibility.  Staff members assist students via phone and email during regular business hours, and all emails sent after business hours receive a reply within one business day.  American School instructors provide constructive feedback on every exam they grade and encourage students to work at a pace that is comfortable for them.  In many ways, American School students work in a classroom of one, a safe environment where they can learn in their own way and in their own time, but they are never alone.  American School staff members are happy to assist every step of the way.  Outstanding curriculum, affordable cost and caring service help American School achieve credibility from three accrediting bodies, and that accreditation ensures that American School courses and diplomas carry the same merit and value as courses and diplomas from traditional schools.  American School students go on to attend colleges and universities across the United States, and American School awards several scholarships a year to its graduates to help them defray the cost of continuing their education.

American School accepts enrollments year-round and would be happy to serve you or someone you know.  Most students receive course materials within a week of enrolling, often sooner.  Check out or call 708-418-2800 for more information and to begin the enrollment process.  You can also look for American School on Facebook and Twitter!  Choose American School for courses in grades 6-12.  You’ll be glad you did!

Debunking Evolution – Genesis Apologetics

Debunking Evolution – Genesis Apologetics

Appropriate for grades 5 to 10

The “Debunking Evolution” consists of a main book (useful for parents or advanced students), DVD, and a Student Guide with fill-in-the-blanks for students. This program is ideal for preparing home school students for the 10 main evolutionary topics/theories they will experience in state parks, museums, television, and movies. Because the program addresses the evolutionary teaching that’s included in public school textbooks, it’s also useful for homeschool families that wish to teach how Biblical Creation contrasts with the secular ideas behind origins, biology, geology, and other areas.

The program includes six lessons and 12 videos where study partners (John and Jane) explore the challenges to the evolutionary theory encountered in their public school textbooks and why the Bible provides a more compelling case for our origins, biology, and geology. Through the fun conversations of the actors and visual aids, this program provides solid answers about creation, evolution, the fossil record, extinction, adaptation, natural selection, common ancestors, branching & homologous, and human evolution.
